Legal track #1 | Session 5 - Global Procurement vs. Local Regulations: A Legal Tug-of-War in International Trade
Organized by the Public Procurement Law and T.R.A.D.E. Commissions
DATE & TIME
LOCATION
🗓️ Thursday, August 28 🕐 10:00-11:00 EDT
📍 Waldorf Astoria
DESCRIPTION
Advising clients with an international supply chain and customer base is teamwork. Juggling frameworks that restrict both the import and export of goods requires multi-jurisdictional and multi-disciplinary collaboration. Whether it is international trade laws with the rise of sanctions in the western hemisphere, or requirements for approval/nationalization before a product can enter a new market, the end of globalization has made international trade more complex. When the customer is a government agency, public procurement and related laws can increase burdens and obstacles.
This session will examine the challenges of complying with different regulatory frameworks and how law firms, clients and public authorities can successfully work together for mutual benefit. In light of recent global trade disruptions, understanding these dynamics and passing on the lessons learned to best handle future challenges is essential. Join experts from the Public Procurement and T.R.A.D.E. Commissions to explore strategies for effectively managing cross-border trade.
